I tried to upgrade my old agp video card with a new pci one with dvi on it. What a headache.

First off, it killed my wireless networking setup for some reason. Now I can't get signal in my room. (No idea but that's not what I need desparate help for now)

When I decided to give up on the PCI video card, I went ahead and stuck my agp card back in. While I had been messing with the PCI card, I went ahead and changed settings in my bios. But it seemed like the change from AGP to PCI did nothing. Except when I had my PCI card in the computer, it wouldn't post and the CDROM kept trying to read. (After reading through a few posts on the board, it seemed like I had been irrefutably screwed)

However, after I put back in my AGP card, the computer posted and I thought I was in the clear. I slowly installed card by card back into my computer. Shutting down XP after every card, installing another, and shutting down.

All was well until the last card (ironically the wireless network card) However I also went back into the BIOS to change the settings back to AGP. Although the computer had been posting and running XP fine with settings set at PCI.

Then the computer started posting my 1800 as a 2200 for a few times and not getting to XP. Then I removed the wireless card and now the computer doesn't even post and gives me 8 beeps. (Which I searched and seems to mean loose video card)???

I'm thinking it wasn't the card moreso changing the settings BACK to AGP. Wierdly the computer posted and ran find with my AGP card in there and settings set for PCI. So how do I revert back to the old settings when I can't even see my screen?

What is going on???

All help is appreciated.

Thanks

Locate the Clear CMOS jumper on your motherboard and clear it. Check your user manual if needed.
