Win98se, Win XP.
There is a setting in my BIOS that asks if the operating system is Plug and Play. Defaults to NO.

Should I change this to YES? Are there pro & cons?
Please advise... I don't want to goof anything up.

Thanks,
R2

I recommend experimenting which works better. If all your hardware is working fine, I wouldn't worry about it.

Setting the PnP OS setting in the BIOS to "yes" basically lets the operating system do the IRQ management without the system BIOS interferring. Generally, you'll want this setting toggled to "no" if you want to manually force IRQ assignments to specific pieces of hardware. However, you usually don't need to anymore, because IRQ management in most OS's has gotten pretty fool-proof over the years.

I made a similiar thread in the motherboard forum. Let us know when you set it to yes and how it went.
