Lady friend received this desktop system (Acer Aspire T100) from a neighbor who did not know what to do with it.

When attempting to change to boot order (enable the floppy boot); the BIOS Password is requested.

Anyone know the default and/or how to reset or disable it.

Acer wants to charge 2 arms & a leg for advise because the serial number is not stamped on the plate. I know that it has gone past their 1 year warranty anyhow.

Assistance from here will save having to take it to a local shop.

As payment, you get a free tax question to be posted in the OT thread:p

Just open the case and take the cmos battery for a couple minutes while the pc is unplugged, that would reset the BIOS password.

That method does not work with all laptops .. the BIOS password in a laptop is in
a special chip designed to not reset when the battery is removed .. they do that
so that if the laptop is stolen, the bios password can not be easily circumvented.

For the win. Solved that problem.
Other problem that I had was a cheapo power supply.
200W in a a P4 system with 3 drives ( 1 HD & 2 CD/DVD) :disgust: Designed to fail after warranty?

No, 200W is just enough to power a low spec P4. It's more a lack of caring about upgrade optons.

It shoud no be a problem because it has integrated video, it you upgrade your video card or add more drives you should consider another power supply.

The 300W is what is being used for burnin testing.

If that solves the problem; it stays.
The 200W seemed to float out of my hands when we removed it from the case.
