I'm having a problem with my pc, when it's turned on it only see's half the memory(256 megs) in the bios and windows.Once I reboot it counts the proper amount(512 megs) in the bios and in Windows as well. What does this indicate?

Specs:
Sempron 2.5 gig
Asrock K7VT4A pro
512 megs hynix ddr pc 3200(one stick)

I've recently changed m/b's(my old K7S5A died) and the ram worked/counted fine.I've tried different settings in the bios to no avail, all I can think of is to try another ram slot.Thanks.

It only shows the correct amount after I reboot. It's not a big issue, but it annoys me when I can't solve something.

Hi, You probably have a marginal top address line. Probably on the Mem Stick. After it heats up a little it probably goes to work. Luck, Jim

I would suggest pullin the module out and inserting it back. Had a similar problem with a graphics card and this solved the problem for a month at a time.

Running the latest Bios on your Mobo? Do have the memory set to "SPD" to auto detect? Have you run memtest on the memory to check for errors?
