BIOS not detecting all of RAM

I have two 128meg sticks of PC133 RAM on a Tyan S1834 (Tiger 133) motherboard with dual Pentium III 733mhz. Up until 5 minutes, my system detected all 256 megs. However, after a fluke system crash, it now only detects 196. Tyan uses Award BIOS.

I recently flashed my bios from version 1.03c to 1.05. However, I did that a week ago, and things have been running flawlessly until now. Could the error lye in the upgrade?

My system checks memory at each boot, and seems to check it 3 times, so I doubt clearing the CMOS, would help any, as I do not beleive there are any settings which are causing this problem. How can 1/2 of my memory stick just stop functioning!?!?

Also, just for good measure, I have tried "Fail Safe Defaults", "Optimized Defaults", and tweaking in the BIOS my own to try to fix the problem, however, nothing has worked so far.

--note- I have had my system for over a year now, so I doubt it is an error in the physical installation of the RAM, also, the fact that only 1/2 of a stick isn't being recognized precludes that notion. Also I'm not overclocking, and my temps are reasonable.

Oddly enough, resetting the CMOS seemed to do the trick. However, now I have more problems, but will start a new thread. Appologies to all who care for flooding.

Make sure the RAM is firmly seated in the socket.
