Senior member
I got a new maxtor 40gb HD,and set everything up in the first PC,and try to run it as primary drive on me second petium MMX 200,I set up the cable, jumper on right place
but the bios failed to auto detect it,so I wonder if the MMX mobo support the 40GB HD?
and how to fix this problem?
thanks for any reply

Go into the BIOS, and toggle between normal and LBA... Also try using the generic drive type (whats labeled on the drive for CHS, usually something like 16363, 16, 63 or something) and enter that in as well...

You may also try jumpering cable select.

Some combination of this will get the drive recognized as *something*, and once it does, you may need to use overlay software that you can dl from the drive's web site.
