  1. Overview of the problem
Basically, every time I go into the BIOS to change the Maximum Payload Size to 4096 bytes from 128 (something like that), it keeps changing back to 128 every time I reboot

  2. Full description of the problem and symptoms
I'll go into the BIOS, change the MPS to 4096 bytes (it's under the PCI section of the BIOS) and then press F10, where I am prompted to save to the CMOS and exit, which I do. However, upon reboot, when I go back into the BIOS to double check the MPS, it has gone back to 128 bytes. I've updated the BIOS and all drivers for my PC

  3. Did it work normally at one time, or has the problem always existed?
It has always been like this. I built this PC from scratch this week

  4. Is the problem consistent and repeatable, or entirely random, or semi-random?
    Consistent problem

  5. I already tried these steps:
Can't think of what to do other than update the BIOS, which didn't work

  6. My software:
    • Operating System and service-pack level - Windows XP Home Edition SP3
    • Antivirus - Norton Internet Security 2009
    • Firewall - Above

  7. My hardware

    • It's a custom PC, a barebones system from Shuttle (SG31G2) with added components
    • Motherboard brand & model - Shuttle Inc,
    • CPU model (and is it overclocked?) Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4GHz (not overclocked)
    • Video card(s) brand & model - Nvidia Geforce 8800 GT 512MB
    • RAM modules brand & model - OCZ 1GB 800MHz DDR3 x 2
    • Power supply brand & model - EZ Cool 600W

Thanks for the link pugster, that's cleared that up

Very annoying that Shuttle have done that but at least I know why it keeps doing that now
