BIOS Keep Freezing On P8P67 Motherboard

Hey everyone. I'm new to the forum here and was wondering if anyone could help out. I'm in need of some assistance with my motherboard. I can't seem to load the BIOS with my motherboard which is a p8p67.

It worked fine at first. First boot up, checked the BIOS, everything was good. I installed Windows 7, checked the BIOS again for temps, worked fine.

After installing all the drivers needed from Windows Update and ASUS's DVD-ROM, I can't access the BIOS anymore. At POST, whenever I hold Del, either it freezes with a black screen and the pointer or it'll just restart automatically.

I went ahead and reseated the RAM, cleared the CMOS, disconnected the HDD, updated the BIOS, uninstalled all the drivers including ASUS Suite software, and still the BIOS keeps freezing. Whatever happened, really messed things up and wiping out the HDD would be useless if it won't even work with everything but the keyboard unplugged. I'm out of ideas here. The only thing I can think of now is RMA'ing.

It sounds like you've tried everything, and it's time to contact Asus' tech support for help or an RMA. :(

Good luck.

I would just buy another bios chip from ASUS - Iike $10 or $15 IIRC
Its just above the Marvel ports
Gotta pull straight up on chip, any angle and you might ruin it bending the 8 leads. Really should use a puller, or with the 2 screwdriver mode - be real careful - it breaks free at a certain point.

They have changed bios vendor fot the B3 - its winbond now - at least on my Deluxe

Hello EmCeeDazzler, and welcome to AnandTech Forums.

Try disconnecting your drives from the SATA ports and see if you can then enter BIOS. Does any of the status LEDs stay lit? For instance I had to RMA one because the RAM LED stayed lit no matter what RAM I tried and even after hitting the MemOK button.

Bankster55, it is a brand new motherboard so the OP shouldn't have to buy a new BIOS chip for it.

Thanks for the tips. I never knew about the BIOS chips.

I actually fixed the issue. Of all things, it was my HDTV! When I first booted it up, I had it on the plasma, but later I put it on my other TV after installing all the drivers and finishing everything up. When I put it back on the plasma, the BIOS loaded and it works fine with the computer monitor as well.

In short, if you have a p8p67 motherboard, and it won't load the BIOS, try switching monitors :D
