I just built a system and want to spruce it up a bit. Here's what I have: Gigabyte K8U-939
MoBo, AMD 64 3500+, Corsair TWINX1024-3200C2PT DDR-400 (XMS-3200C2) 1GB Kit (2 x 512MB), nVidia fx 5200 256 MB, Award Modular BIOS v6.00PG,Uli/Ali 1689 chipset .
I have read the Overclockers guide thoroghly and have a basic understanding about OCing.
My problem is with the bios. There are several items in the advanced chipset settings(for OC) that I have no idea what they are for. I contacted the MoBo manufacturer, the bios vendor and the place that I purchased the equipment from and they all told me the same thing,
"Those items are for overclocking the system and we don't recommend doing it , so we don't give out any info on this."Duhhhh! Then why put it in there???????
These are the items that I don't want to mess with until I know what they are:
Frequency/Voltage Control in bios
VCC18 overvoltage Control??????
VCC12 overvoltage control??????
Under Advanced Chipset Features:
M1689 Configuration
M1689 Gated Clock(enable/disable)?????Currently disabled
PCI/14M/USB CLK Powerdown(enable/disable)?????Currently disabled
HyperTransport Configuration:
M1689 HTT TriState(enable/disable)?????Currently disabled
Uli HPET(enable/disable)??????Currently disabled
If anyone in this forum can help or at least point me in the right direction to solve this issue, I would greatly appreciate it.
