Bios is all messed up. I am clueless

Hi all,

Have a p4p800 deluxe and a p4 2.4c. Was going to play with this about a year ago and
never got around to it. Needed a basic system for an office lobby and put a system together with this.
It has run fine at stock for 2 months, I got bored and was gonna do some o'clocking on it.
The bios is frazzled. It artifacts, things are missing. It is borked. BUT!! Once it loads windows the system is fine. I would not have even noticed anything except I got bored yesterday.

Do I just reinstall a bios from a floppy or is that a waste? Is the actual bios chip going bad?

I am clueless.

Thanks in advance, Leigh

As wfbberzerker said, it still sounds like a video issue. However, you might first try resetting the bios by moving the jumper on the board and removing the battery. Failing that, go to the ASUS site and get a new bios. There are instructions on the site for updating your bios.

If this machine has been used in an office environment, chances are that the GPU has not been stressed recently and may perform adequately but, just to eliminate the possibility, try loading a demanding game and see if it artifacts on you or causes other problems.

Remember what they call business machines poked at by bored techies........................................................................
door stops.

I don't know what video card you have, but I have found the rendering test in Ati Tray Tools to be the best gpu stress test. Plus, you can monitor temps at the same time.

Have you reset the cmos and tried to boot yet?
