So I've been having major problems with my comp starting off with a crappy 420 powmax power supply overheating due to a recent upgrade to a radeon 9800 pro. The power supply, being very close to the CPU, was overheating the cpu and the computer would just shut down and I would have to wait 2-3 hours before I was able to turn it on again.
After upgrading my power supply to a constant 500 watt supply, this problem was taken care of. I also bought a number of new fans for the computer including a new CPU fan. Ever since these upgrades however, while playing UT2004, my computer will sometimes just randomly shut down and start doing a 1 high beep followed by a low beep. If i turn off the power supply and then turn it back on the computer will work again.
I thought this might be a mobo problem so I returned the mobo and got a FIC KT-748 board. Now, it doesn't boot and searches for some kind of MAC address and then fails to boot. It got to the windows loading screen once and then crashed. By crashing I mean that the computer restarts but there is no video signal. When I try to enter the bios settings menu the computer will freeze after about 2 seconds and I cannot edit any bios settings. I've reset CMOS a number of times only to have the same problems.
Here are my computer specs.
Athlon 2600
FIC KT-748 mobo
2x256 2100 DDR RAM
Radeon 9800 Pro
WD hdd 20 gb - primary
WD hdd 40 gb - secondary
500 watt PSU - quality unit, cannot remember brand.
