I can't get my computer to go into the bios flashing utility. My Asus board has a built in flash utility says to press alt + F2 at the beginning of bootup but when I press Alt+F2 nothing happens it just continues booting up. So I went to the alternative method and made a MS Dos boot diskette, I set the first boot device to the floppy and tried booting up with it in and it doesn't do anything, it reads the diskette and continues booting windows xp. I think it has something to do with the SATA hard drives because it has priority boot up, I don't feel like fiddling with the cables, is there any quick fix ideas to get the flash utility to work?

yeah the simple fix is to install the asus update utility from the cd and run that from windows. if you have already downloaded the bios file just run update, point it to the correct path and it will do its thang....it is far less nerve-wracking that an dos flash somehow

The A7N8X also has a special DOS flash utility...only for that motherboard. You can download it from Asus' website.

It's not hard to change the boot order in the BIOS. If you want to do it in DOS mode, just make your bootable DOS disk and then change the boot order so floppy comes before SCSI.

I just went through this myself today. Had a very hard time getting into the flash utility on the board, but I finally found it. Had to try several times. You have hit the <alt> + <F2> on boot as indicated in the manual. But then you have to hit tab to clear the video image and go to the post screen. At the bottom of the screen was the award flash startup in colored lettering. Give it a try again.
