BIOS Flash taking forever!

How long is it supposed to take, to flash a BIOS (Abit KT7-Raid)? It's been going for over 1 hour now and nothing has happened. There's no change on the progress bar, and the floppy drive light is still on. No sounds though.

I am getting the feeling something is seriously screwed here, because I used an old unreliable disk to boot/flash (DR.DOS). I followed the correct steps, so there should be no problems there.

If anyone could confirm this...

And what now?

Thanks.

edit - oh yeah, and do NOT turn off your computer!!! (or else it may never turn back on)...maybe someone knows something, keep it on until you figure something out or are ready to trash that mobo

I was thinking of swapping the flash disk with a new one. This would have to be in the middle of the so called process of course. But as nothing is happening, I was thinking it would be safe. It's not currently reading off the floppy, so what have I to lose?

When I flashed my old P166 it took about 30 seconds and was visibly doing something the whole time.

I have never heard of such things. Hope it all worked out for you!

Yes, actually.

Luckily I was able to restart the system because the process had not started. I tried again with a new diskette, but no luck.

Then I installed the latest 4-in-1's and found out that I should be flashing the bios through a RAMdrive instead of a disk when using Win2k. So that's what I'm gonna do. I'll tell you how it goes.
