Bios Flash Gone Bad

Hi, I've been using my Sapphire X850XT for a couple weeks. It runs fine at 560/640 with absolutely no artifacting. I wanted to flash to a new bios so I didnt need ATi Tray Tools constantly running to apply the overclock and have it adjust the fan speed every startup.

I used the X850Xt-PE Bios because I heard that helps with overclocking a little bit. I set the clocks to 550/630 and did the fan speed controls with Rabit. I used ATI Winflash to flash the card.

It seemed to work fine, but on restart the entire screen is pixelated and multi colored. You can't see anything. Any idea's what went wrong and how I can restore my card?

You happen to own a old PCI graphics card? If you did indeed screw up the bios flash then your going to have to flash the card somehow to the old bios that I hoped you backed up.

Thats why we have a program called RivaTuner. It'll OC your card and restore your clocks after every reboot, w/o having to run the dam program.

If you can make a DOS boot floppy with the DOS version of the flash program and the stock BIOS file on it, with an autoexec.bat file to automatically run the flash program along with any command switches to prevent it prompting the user for anything, then you can do it without needing to see the screen. Otherwise yes you'll need a PCI card or integrated video that you can run at the same time in order to reflash it.

I wonder if perhaps the PE BIOS you used has different voltage settings for the core and/or memory, or if it's using different memory timings on the VRAM.

I'm guessing you can still see your screen? I'd try reflashing it back to the old BIOS.
