You're just trying to get to A:?

You can make a boot disk by just putting a disk in the drive, right click on it, and do a format with "copy system files" then reboot. Should take you to DOS (just guessing, that's what they used to do). You could also try hitting F8 when you start to load windows and do a command prompt only (may not let you flash though).

try d/loading the basic boot floppy from bootdisk.com. copy to floppy disk.
add the bios file to the new floppy then boot from the floppy. at the A: prompt just type in the exact name of the file to begin the process. best to make a backup of the old bios (option 1) before you update!
