bios flash and O/S

I've got a new cpu coming in the mail to upgrade my current one. To install the new cpu I have to flash the bios. Does flasing the bios affect the O/S at all and do I have to potentially reload Windows after the flash?

Anyway here's what I'm using

Mobo- Asus P4t-e
cpu's - both pentium 4 socket 478
O/S - Windows XP

If it is working correctly it should not affect your OS at all. The only thing it might do is change the boot order so that the BIOS won't look to the hard drive that Windows is on. If it helps I have flashed my BIOS at least four times with one Windows install and have not had a problem so far.
