"system does not support flash update"

the chip:
ASD
AE29F2008-12
9937

is this some non writable device or do i need some hard-to-find flash util?
i tried sever versions of AMI flash util

---------------
other info:

model M748
the website has 2 models and i dont know the revision but reguardless of
bios ROM file the FLASHER seems wrong or something.

even using it to query the current version or save it etc.. all i get from it is:

"Flasher / Part unavasilable. functions will be invalid"

the ROM has a sticker on it:
AMIbios 1999
AB35
0067

i tried deslecting "Bios cacheable" in setup and experimented with the cmos
jumper positions.

It looks like your motherboard does not support flashing the BIOS. If you need a new BIOS for some reason, you'll need to get a new BIOS chip from the motherboard manufacturer.

What is the brand, model, and revision number of the motherboard?

the model is a pcchips m748 unknown rev.
i just need a compatable eeprom to replace this...what..? PROM ?
then i can hot swap flash the new chip ..no?

are u familiar with the ASD chip i listed? u know for sure its not a flashable chip?
