BIOS detecting incorrect RAM voltage settings?!

I have two sticks of Corsair 512MB ValueSelect PC3200 (VS512MB400). They are rated at 2.5V. But in my BIOS DEFAULT it says 2.6V. However, I can set it back to 2.5V. Would a higher voltage be damaging? Why would my motherboard (Abit NF8) detect 2.6V as default?! All this time, it probably has destroyed my RAM, then. I have the latest BIOS, too...

2.6v is not very likely to destroy your ram. Overclockers will overvolt thier RAM so it can run faster than spec. This will shorten its lifespan, but 2.6v on 2.5v should be neglible.
