I have a problem with BIOS on an ASUS P4C800 Deluxe motherboard, which makes me think that the BIOS chip is going to have to be replaced.

Are these chips available from sources other than the motherboard manufacturer ?

And if NOT, is it necessary to send the motherboard back to the manufacturer for the installation of the chip or will they (ASUS in this case) send you the chip so you can install yourself (if you have ever tried to get anything done by any of these M/B makers, you will know why I am asking this - it takes them what seems forever to get anything done) ?

Thanks.

Well, I will answer my own question. On my initial research, I could not find, but upon further research, yes, there are outside companies that provided these products and services.

Not exactly cheap, but I didn't know I had other options at the time through my work. Quick turn around and everything turned out okay, but that was 3 years ago.

The chips themselves are fairly cheap if you can get a hold of one through various electronic supp You then just need to get a hold of a programmer or someone who has one.

I've seen other people offering the same service as badflash on ebay. But YMMV there of course...
