i'm getting 4 low tone beeps followed by a single higher toned beep at start-up
the probe fan/temp monitor is set at default and all systems seem to be fine.
the only thing i found on this searching the forum made me think that the low beeps are usb connections and that the single beep might mean all is ok.
does anybody else have usb connection beeps? and if so are they followed with a single one?

if anything the higher pitched single beep seems shorter than the four previous beeps.
the four lower pitched ones are in an even timed cadence then the last one follows about half a beat sooner. i have yet to apply the 2 bios flashes available so that may make a difference. i'll post after i get the bios updated.

ok, this is the explanation/solution
asus p4p800 deluxe mobo (ami)
beeps i was getting all directly coresponded to usb devices that were connected.
the 4 lower toned beeps were a 4 port usb hub with 3 devices connected and the higher toned beep was my usb mouse.
i checked this all and verified by reconnecting the devices in different order and with different variations.
i hope this saves someone the panic of having to return a perfectly good mobo
