The Hollywood Reporter says that young British actress Michelle Ryan has landed the title role on NBC's drama pilot "The Bionic Woman."

"Bionic Woman," from NBC Universal TV, is described as a re-imagination of the 1970s series. Ryan will play a bright woman who is transformed into a technological wonder with $50 million worth of bionic components implanted in her body.

Ryan is best known for her five-year turn on the popular BBC soap "EastEnders."

Holy shiznit.

Although Bionic Woman is a fun concept, can't they come up with something new? And it's a little less easy to suspend disbelief about bionics today than in the 70's, considering what stage we're at with them, whereas back then it was equivalent to flying cars.

But then, if we get bouncing boobs, I don't care if it's actually good, as long as they can act.

After seeing her on Eastenders, I'm gonna be LOL'ing at this.

I'm wondering if she'll keep her British accent or if she'll go with an American accent like many other Brits in Hollywood.

The Bionic Woman has already been re-imagined...you can see her on "Dr. 90210" or "The Real Housewives of Orange County."

I'm still holding out for a remake of Green Acres or possibly Petticoat Junction.

You really don't want to hear her British accent if she wasn't faking the Cockney one on Eastenders. I'm sure she must have been putting it on or they'd never have signed her up, unless she can uber-magically put on an amazing US accent.

That show hardly tested her range either, all she did was cry and look miserable as sin. Such a happy show... She did find out her sister was her mum though, fathered by her uncle. LOL.

How the fvck does that work. Impossible to be sister and mom with the uncle as the dad.

EDIT: Not flaming, just wondering wtf did that happen. Please explain.

Might have not explained it correctly, it's hurting my head trying to explain it without being ambiguous again:

1. She goes through life thinking she has an older sister, about 16 years older than her
2. The older sister is revealed to be her mother
3. She was the result of her non-biological father's brother forcing her older sister/mother to sleep with him.

I hope that makes sense. Like I said, happy show!
