I was wondering why we don't use biometrics on a nationwide level? Identity theft is a pretty big issue and maybe this could control it a little bit. Are there legal implications?
We do use biometrics on a nationwide level -just not by the federal government for the general public. However, since this is going to turn into a national ID discussion, I'm going to just say voiceprint, retinal scan, and finger&palm scans, baby!
the reason I ask is because slashdot had an article about some new Fujitsu technology that uses vein near-IR imaging. What I meant are there any legal implications regarding this on a national level rather than say using your SSN you'd use some biometric identification. I know the ACLU would fight that to the death but do they have any legal ground to defend themselves as to why we shouldn't have it?
