I really don't know where this needs to be posted, but it seems sort of off-topic and broad...
I am leaning into the bioinformatics and medical IT field since both medicine and IT/computer related work interest me. I am currently graduating with a degree in Computer Science (BS) and a degree in Human Biology: Biotechnology/Genetics (BS) Pre-Med. I am going to apply to (Duke) medical school, but would like to get some experience before I actually make it to med school. Currently, I am finishing undergrad school-work, running a freelance webdesign company (www.nmcglennon.com), acting as a partner of a local small business IT company (www.rritconsulting.com), and a lead technical supervisor for the university's DHFS information services IT department. I am also working on MCSE and CCNA certs.
What I'd like to know is if any of you have any experience in the bioinformatics or medical IT field, what the field is like, what are some good things to know, and what certifications are relevant (if any).
Links, and any bumps are greatly appreciated. I know this is probably a hit-or-miss topic, but I need to know what I am going into before med-school. Thanks!
