Has anyone taken a bioethics course at university? How did you find it?

I'll be taking PHL281 (Bioethics) at the University of Toronto this upcoming year.

Taken from the Calendar:
"An introduction to the study of moral and legal problems in medical practice and in biomedical research; the development of health policy. Topics include: concepts of health and disease, patient rights, informed consent, allocation of scarce resources, euthanasia, abortion, genetic and reproductive technologies, human research, and mental health."

took biomedical ethics. awesome course.

Did you get to participate in discussions? Or was the course mainly lectures?

I went to a college with small classes. Class participation was about 45%. There are extremely interesting situations to ponder, like the implications of fully implemented voluntary euthenasia-

It sounds interesting. For those who have taken it, did you feel that anything was resolved in discussion, or that concensus was achieved on various topics?

the "study" of ethics is generally a waste of time. ethical policy making is more lobbying and politics than moral correctness.
I would disagree. You have to start somewhere.
