Bio Lab accident

We were doing a DNA extraction lab today that involved the use of chloroform, and two freshmen (who aren't even in the class) decided it would be fun to play like in the movies, and drug each other. So one kid pour some chloroform on a paper towel, puts it over the other kids mouth and nose, the kid pass out....onto a drawer of beakers. They crash all over the floor, kid falls and gets stabbed in the arm by a shard of glass, the TA is freaking out....huge mess.

The other freshmen tries to run out of the room, for whatever reason, my lab partner (240lbs Lineman on UTK's football team) tackles him and sits on him until the TA has an opportunity to come over. The drugged kid goes to the hospital...the other gets to go downtown. I knew there were morons in college...but this is just absurd. Lab was canceled, and I have to take time out of my day Saturday to make it up...dumb ass Freshmen.

thats fusking great

looks like their college days are gonna be cut a lil short, at my school they woudl most likely kick them out for that

Is that really necessary for chloroform?
Yes, it is. Chloroform is not a perfect knock-out substance, just one that is easily made and effective. It has side-effects, usually just a headache that you wouldn't believe. But look at the name: Chloroform. As in Chlorine. Too much can be fatal, and damaging to the lungs. You can also have a reaction to it if you have certain allergies or conditions.

The only problem I have with your story Bishop is that your lab partner tackled the guy instead of clotheslining him. That would have been much more appropriate.

Sucks you gotta make it up though. I hope the two kids fail.

Chloroform can also cause cancer. But yea, I think being tackled by a guy who does it everyday and is huge is what that kid deserved. A clothesline would have been funnier, but I'm betting the tackle hurt much much more. Those kids will probably be gone by the end of the week...and that makes it all worth it.

I'm wondering if both freshman were screwing around. Maybe one of em was just a dumbass and decided to chloroform the other one.

Neither were in the class. So, I think they were both dumbasses. Or one was a dumbass, and the other was a lemming.

Damn, if only one of em was an ATOTer. I would like to add more to my dumbasses list. Only have 1 so far.

Wow...nothing here can compare to that.

I think this years freshmen class is ROYALLY fvcked up...the freshmen here go out every freaking night, including sundays. Every night I see hoards of freshmen leaving the dorms in search of house parties...I'm all for parties, but 7 nights a week is excessive.

I started a fire in my desk in a high school chemistry class, so you can put me on your list if you like.

Thankfully your lab didn't involve the use of ether. There is nothing more dangerous than a man in the depths of an ether binge.
