Binoculars

What are the things to look for? I want to spend around $100. I know about magnification & field of view, but there are hundreds of them out there. Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Went to binoculars.com (Duh!) Got pair of Tasco w/decent reviews for $70. Thanks for the help w/sites & sizes.

I have a pair that I also use to watch "chicks"...all they say on them is "Atcorite", "fully coated optics". They're kind of banged up, but they do the job.

For birding you probably won't want anything larger than a 7x35, or a 10x50 at most. Any larger than that and you'll have a hard time keeping it steady. Canon makes a great set of image-stabilization binos, and they work great; however, they're considerably more expensive. You're going to want to get a bino that is fully multi-coated on all air-to-glass surfaces.

I don't do much birding, but I do use my Oberwerk 12x60 binos for astronomical purposes. I primarily hunt comets, asteroids, star clusters, satellites, etc. with them. You can check them out here.
