Study: Binge drinking highest in Midwest

The problem was most prevalent in North Dakota, where an estimated 31 percent of residents 12 and older had engaged in binge drinking, according to the 2003 National Survey on Drug Use and Health. Binge use was defined as consuming five or more drinks on the same occasion at least once in the last 30 days.

5 drinks at one occasion.... come on that's barely a buzz....

w00t ND was actual mentioned on CNN.

5 drinks in a sitting isn't that much, if that counts as binge drinking then I'm fvcked.

P.S. I'm a Midwesterner

that's kind of why like greek life isn't big in new york (city) universities. there are few people really active in frats or sororities here -- because there are better things to do than to get drunk all day and then make babies or whatever.

"Binge" drinking is about as perverted a word in the media as "assault" weapons.

Bah. So I had a six pack on Superbowl Sunday or during tailgate party for a Big 10 game. Whoopdeedo. I've still got cholesterol closer to 100 than 200, a rock bottom low HR, blood pressure is good, BMI is perfectly acceptable, and I exercise over 4 hours a week + lifting.

Sue me.

It's not binge drinking if you do it everyday.

yeah, thats called alcoholism.

and five drinks is not a lot in my opinion. i have 5 drinks before i leave my house on a fri/sat night

I never got the point of drinking and not getting drunk. Why the hell bother with getting beer if your not even going to get drunk.
