Edmund finally gave us some information about the release of the next (and rumored final) expansion to the Binding of Isaac series. He states they are finalizing achievements at the moment and the best he can do for a release date is within the next 60 days. With this next expansion comes a new playable character, a new final boss, a new ending (rumored to be the final "nail in the coffin" ending), and mod tools. He also mentions that after the expansion is released, he will check in once a week or so and pick the best mods made by the community and add them permanently into the game with small updates.

Given the current trend of most games, these days you get way more bang for your buck out of indie games since most of them are in the habit of providing free content updates well after the game has released.

Wow..awesome. Such a good game, but man it is hard. I've only ever beat mother twice...never beat the devil. So much I"ve yet to discover.

Do you have Rebirth and Afterbirth or just the base Binding of Isaac? The original game was ridiculously difficult, but Rebirth gave us a ton (almost 100) new items - the vast majority of which can make you overpowered. Rebirth/Afterbirth also has better item synergies, so you could easily have a pretty dull run turn into a laughably overpowered run just from a single item (looking at you Tiny Planet).

This has put the fire under my butt to finish my 1001% achievement. All I have left is to finish the Boss Rush with the Keeper. I have so far have a 120 loss streak trying for it. The Keeper is incredibly frustrating to play.

I found him incredibly easy. You may have been playing him before he got his buff.

If you don't get a decent item in the first two floors, restart. His low Tear stat due to his inherent Inner Eye makes low-damage runs almost impossible for the later stages. I managed to find Mom's Knife in the first floor secret room inside a bomb chest and took Keeper from start through Boss Rush, Hush, and to The Lamb without any issues. Given how overpowered The Inner Eye can be, there's really no reason to have much difficulty with Keeper.

New update: We are getting a release date next week from Edmund and there's two new items showcased. Clicker - which changes your character to someone else (to presumably get those pesky achievements for Blue Baby, The Lost, etc.) and Pause, which freezes enemies in the room for a few seconds.

I've been trying to clear up my last few challenges so I can get 1001% and the PG/TPG achievements before the new expansion tacks on more ungodly difficult challenges. Finally cleared Brainz, Onan's Streak, and Pay 2 Win. All I have left are I Rule (which is much harder than it should be), The Purist, and Speed. I've made it to Mega Satan on three different occasions during I Rule, but every time my damage output was so small and his stupid bullet hell attacks took me out in no time. The Purist is just plain dumb unless you get something good like The Red Candle (and can afford it), and Speed... well, we won't talk about that challenge.

I earned 1001% last night! All I needed was to pick up Immaculate Conception, been doing runs for about 2 weeks with no luck. Last night I was doing a run with Eden and I managed to get the Blank Card, The Card Box, a Joker and a Dice Shard, along with Sack Head. Found a Angel room on Mom's Heart Level (using the Joker) and was able to go into it and reroll the item and the key piece 4 or 5 times (due to sacks dropping batteries) until Immaculate Conception came up.

I only need two challenges. Purist and I Rule.

I completed Speed yesterday by grabbing Epic Fetus in my first item room and just rushed through to the end while checking shops along the way for The Bible. Couldn't find it and two rooms before It Lives, I found a double-locked door which had a Bible inside. Ran into It Lives and insta-gibbed it. I probably could have won just by the Epic Fetus and my orbitals (not to mention I had full Soul/Black hearts), but I was down to barely under a minute left for the run.

Just completed both I Rule then Purist one after another. I had some amazing streaks going on the past week as I've cleared out the remaining Baby achievements as well as the last six or so challenges I left lingering. So now I guess we wait until the new expansion is released so I can watch my Platinum God achievement disappear again...

I'm willing to bet that most of them will be trivially easy, and then there will be one or two that are nearly impossible. Like complete the game twice (including the victory lap) without picking up any items.

I also notice that the list does not include the 'New Greedier Greed Mode' that Edmund tweeted about. Um, yes it does.

I agree. There will be one, maybe two (one for picking up the unlocked item), for each of the new challenges. Several for the new greed mode, and a bunch for the new character and new bosses, and several with the new ending, as well as a new 1002%.

It is a fan-made mod coming out later today. They reverse engineered Rebirth and modded the exe so they can do way more than other mods have done so far. I've caught a couple of streams and it looks fantastic. Really high quality soundtrack and everything.

It is not compatible with Afterbirth (or Afterbirth+) but can be installed alongside of it.

I think if you have antibirth installed you need to uninstall it first, then install afterbirth +, then antibirth again.

If you lost your save file in last nights patch fear not! The save files are still there but for some reason it is not loading them unless they come from the Steam Cloud, so to get your saves files back just go into steam library click properties on The Binding of Isaac Rebirth and click on Allow Steam Cloud.
