The son of slain al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden has threatened revenge against the United States for assassinating his father, according to an audio message posted online.Hamza bin Laden promised to continue the global militant group's fight against the United States and its allies in the 21-minute speech entitled "We Are All Osama," according to the SITE Intelligence Group.
"We will continue striking you and targeting you in your country and abroad in response to your oppression of the people of Palestine, Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Somalia and the rest of the Muslim lands that did not survive your oppression," Hamza bin Laden said.
"As for the revenge by the Islamic nation for Sheikh Osama, may Allah have mercy on him, it is not revenge for Osama the person but it is revenge for those who defended Islam."
Osama bin Laden was killed at his Pakistani hideout by US commandos in 2011 in a major blow to the militant group which carried out the September 11, 2001 attacks.
Documents recovered from bin Laden's compound and published by the United States last year alleged that his aides tried to reunite the militant leader with Hamza, who had been held under house arrest in Iran.
Hamza bin Laden, now in his mid-20s, was at his father's side in Afghanistan before the 9/11 attacks and spent time with him in Pakistan after the US-led invasion pushed much of al-Qaeda's senior leadership there, according to the Brookings Institution.
Introduced by the organisation's new chief Ayman al-Zawahiri in an audio message last year, Hamza bin Laden provides a younger voice for the group whose ageing leaders have struggled to inspire militants around the world galvanised by Islamic State.
"Hamza provides a new face for al-Qaeda, one that directly connects to the group's founder. He is an articulate and dangerous enemy," according to Bruce Riedel of Brookings.

Who cares.

I hope he has drone insurance.

If he didn't need it before, he sure does now.

If a person makes such terrorist threats, and has a notable history (possibility of making good on threats), put them on a terrorist watch list.
If said person is connected in communication with terrorist organizations, prioritize watching them.
If said person is in physical connection to said terrorist organizations, authorize a drone strike / any other means of force.

how come we don't know anything about bin laden's wives and kids at the compound when he was killed in 2011? It would be interesting to interview them.

Iran had him and then let him go? That's a big chip to throw away. I wonder what the rationale was.

I wonder why the media has decided to use this story. What's the motive here? To scare Americans? To get more votes for a certain candidate? To drum up military spending?

Who knows. But there is always a motive.

I can definitely see that young man being indoctrinated from an early age to be what he is today. It's also my feeling that that young man didn't really want to take on the job of being a high profile target like his father was. I think he was coaxed into responding to a familial obligation of revenge along with the incessant "tutoring" that he went through to fulfill his father's wishes for an America in decline and ultimate defeat.

I actually feel sorry for him in that he couldn't choose a life for himself like most of us are blessed with.

Hope you like the insides of caves, kiddo. You're going to be seeing a lot of them if you're looking to live long past your 18th birthday.

Such a shame.

Could have been an epic new super villain origin story... the rise of the son. Out to revenge the slain father...

But... "We Are All Osama..."

Oh dear lord. Resorting to such a complete lameass meme...

Ruined it.

Is this surprising? Angry we killed dear old pops for the killing he did?

No worries, we'll kill him easily enough.

Problem solved, at least until another takes his place.
