MOSCOW, Russia -- Osama bin Laden has threatened to assassinate U.S. President George W. Bush at a G-8 meeting in Italy, the head of Russia's Federal Bodyguard Service has said, according to reports.

Plot to assassinate Bush - reports

This is hopefully a situation where regardless of your political leanings your nationalistic tendencies buried deep down are awaken and you are angered.

Personally I think that we need to declare a new war on middle eastern terrorism. That would include military action. And if not military action then organizations of armed citizens trained with our technologies and sent around the world.

Time to find out which country the dirtbag Bin Laden is hiding in and bomb it back to the stone age. Of course the country he's hiding in probably isn't that far removed from the stone age...ahh screw it....just flatten wherever he is.

<< 6 months in office? That didn't take too long. >>

I don't know if this is in reference to him doing a good or bad job. As far as I am concerned, I am with 67gt in that I am angered that he thinks he can get away with this sh!t, but on the other hand, atleast we know GW isn't backing down from his ideals and is putting it out on the table. In other words, atleast he tells you what he is thinking regardless of what you think of his ideas and he lets you do what you will.
Maybe OBL is pissed because his time frame to get a ballistic missle to our continent coincides with GW's time frame to put up a shield for a$$holes like him.

The thing is, you really do have to question the underlying reasons behind this..

Bin Laden has to know that if he pulled a stunt like this our country would be enraged.. and we would probably nuke the entire middle east. But perhaps this is what he wants?

What is obvious is that the GOP and conservatives in this country waited 8 years to retain the white house... and surely they will not rest if something like this happened.

Why is that psycho (not Bush, that's a different story),Bin Laden still at large? Wonder what the reward would be to take him out. Hmmmmm, me being an ex marine, rifle expert, and all........ Ponderous, quite ponderous.... :Q Someone should have whacked Bin Laden long ago. :|

I'm sure glad you guys have some level-headed military leaders because there's no way I'd like some of the people on this board to be anywhere near the "button". Perhaps you're all just teenagers with more testosterone making your decisions than logic, but give me a break. In the unfortunate incident that George W. gets assassinated, the first priority of the U.S. will be to ensure the smooth transition to a new leadership. Secondly, once stabilized, the search for answers would begin. But unless the assassination was officially sanctioned by another state, there would be no military offensive on an entire region. Give me a break - there's no way nukes would be deployed.

And why doesn't the U.S. just assassinate Bin Laden? Could it be because he'll be perceived as a martyr for his cause - you do know how these things turn out right? It results in 20 younger, more evil, more destructive Bin Laden Jr's running around the world.

GL, afghanistan has been hiding bin laden in its mountaineous regions and refuses to give him up. This in and of itself is a declaration of war against the united states.

If ANYTHING happens to Bush our first priority should be to determine the group responsible and if it happens to be bin laden, bomb afghanistan into oblivion.

He needs to die. He has needed to be killed for quite some time. And the Taliban can go to hell as well.
