Why is it strange to not hear from someone with a huge bounty on his head for a year? No one has heard from Whitey Bulger in 6 years and no one is supposing he is dead.

Osama, DB Cooper, Elvis, Keith Richards... they'll never die.

Edit: I forgot the ultimate undead... Dick '10 heart attacks this month alone' Cheney.

We've been hearing this rumour foor years now, but every so often BL pops up and proves he's alive. He could be dead, but he could be alive and biding his time.

tab·loid Audio pronunciation of "tabloid" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (tbloid) n.

A newspaper of small format giving the news in condensed form, usually with illustrated, often sensational material.

Yep, thats a good source.

And as soon our government admits he may be dead he will put out another video. Bin Laden is related to the energizer bunny.

Seriously I hope he is dead.

He will be here for 2008 elections... bank on it.

People have been predicting the announcing of his death before every major political event since 2001. That theory is getting old.

Because he's one of those people who's self image depends upon his reflection in the public mind. If you don't hear from him for a few years you can lay very good odds he's dead. If you don't hear from him for over a year, well, there's a good chance he's dead, or at least pretty incapacitated.

If he's really dead, someone has to know the truth. They aren't talking.

Tradesports just gives a 10% for Bin Laden being "captured/neutralized" by june, which would include just dying presumably, so the rumours are unlikely to be true unless you have a better source of information.

they've been thinking he could possibly be dead for like... 2 years

what they mean is "we can't find him and we're tired of looking"

before you decide, read this (long but pertinent)

osama linked to saudi royals.... saudi royals, including bin laden family, tight with bush family and US oil interests....saudis, including bin laden family members get special treatment right after 9-11. bin laden family members get flown out of US with saudi royals a few days after 9-11, despite ban on private flights.
al-qaeda and taliban get the boot from afghanistan. hunt for osama gets put on back burner when US attacks iraq.

using the referenced time-line from a purely speculative point of view, it seems osama wasn't the real target after all. with the bush family in bed with the saudi royals and the bin laden family, the saudis and the bin ladens are able to exert all kinds of pressure on the bush family to leave osama alone and just go after the body of the beast instead of the head, which is exactly what the invasion of afghanistan accomplished. then, on to iraq to get at the "real terrerrest" by the name of saddam hussein, and oh yeah, just by coincidence, get at all of the oil that the french, germans and russians were gleefully bathing in to the consternation of US oil interests.

given that scenario, osama is at this time somewhere quite comfortable and happy with his immediate and extended family members, waiting on call from "the powers that be".

That could add up that way, but then again getting the Bin Laden's out of the US may have been just so that yahoos didn't start killing them for revenge.

yeah, quite possible.

or, had the bin ladens stayed long enough, a case proving the family's involvement with osama/ al-qaeda/9-11 could have been built that was strong enough to penetrate the protective shield the bush family covered them with, and while we're at it, the saudi royals themselves. that's something the bush family would never let happen.

Maybe at his exit speech, Bush will produce the head of OBL for the world to see, as he winks at the nation, over national television. That also might be a great time to open the warehouses and bring in the cameras......you know the ones where all the WMDs are stored. ;)

The Saudi family has billions of dollars invested in the US. Why would it be in their interest to continueously attack the US causing economic downturns?

Isn't there still a bounty of something like $50M on his head? You'd think if he had died, some Pakistani would turn him in, if only to use the money to fund more anti-American madrases.
