He is the president and should behave better than this, he should be keeping a close eye on the situation. He takes credit for killing OBL yet it was the Seals who did the real work and not obama.

That picture does look odd, but personally I don't care if it's Photoshopped. The President's duty is to authorize the operation. The night that Operation Lightfoot kicked off Montgomery's successful battle to defeat Rommel's Axis forces at El Alamein, Montgomery went to bed at something like 7 or 8 PM even though the fate of tens of thousands of men under his command and quite possibly also the fate of the African theater hung in the balance. Eisenhower went to bed early the night of the DD invasion with the fate of hundreds of thousands and quite possibly the war hanging in the balance. Perhaps Obama really watched it and perhaps he did not, but any civilian war leader needs to understand that at some point he has fulfilled his role and further intervention is only likely to muck it up. Better by far to get out of the way until needed again, and if he was off playing cards and was later Photoshopped in, that is distressingly common in D.C. It is not a city that runs on honesty, and I would not be at all surprised if this entire picture was staged later with the missing parties Photoshopped into place like so many paper dolls.

I do think Obama made a serious strategic political error in his "I love me some me" speech, trying to give the impression that he practically elbowed aside the professional warriors and killed bin Laden personally in spite of them. But even there that is a political miscalculation, not a scandal.

Way to be a party pooper.

I quoted the offending section because it was the offending section. I didn't quote the rest of the speech because it was good. Had he stuck with a single self-reference, it would have been a great speech, but his mistake (IMHO) was to insert the middle portion which was all about him. I directed, I was briefed, I met repeatedly, I determined, at my direction - much smarter to put in one (or two well-spaced) self-references just to remind people that he is the man at the top (not something normally forgotten, but attempts to write him out of the equation were inevitable) while generously giving credit to those responsible. That would have left his opposition nothing to oppose.

Fair enough. As I've pointed out many times, I have no real problem with the speech. Had he not given due credit, I would have had a major problem with the speech. I just think it was a political miscalculation. The smart thing to do would have been to stick almost exclusively to honoring others, leaving Republicans nothing to criticize. In the mean time, give interviews describing the process and all the steps while again giving all credit to others - but pointing out your own role without directly touting it. This could have been a major propaganda victory for Obama; it was not.

Again, it didn't really bother me, but it's not a mistake that Clinton or even Bush would have made. Their political teams were just smoother.

There was speculation that the photo showing Obama in the situation room was photoshopped. I always believed it was because it was so amateurishly done. Obama is so markedly smaller in stature that everyone else. Looking at the size of everyone's heads is a giveaway. So now we know that instead of being involved in an event he and Biden crowed about for seemingly ever, he pansied out and played cards.

I'm actually impressed at what these speech writers can do under severe time constraints. They never really get any credit for it either. The commander in chief I believe, has a duty to oversee an operation with implications this huge. They do have a room set up with a video feed after all...
