Don't know if many of you still visit VE3d, but back in the day when that site was rockin, it really was the only website you needed to visit when it came to PC gaming.. After he left and IGN took over, it went downhill fast...

I used to go to voodooextreme religiously in college when Billy used to post. That guy was such a riot. That is really sad that he has passed. I knew he was a vegetarian, but I didn't know he had health problems. Best Wishes to his family....very sad.

Yeah he sure was.. I was such a geek in college, at one point my homepage was VE3D :(

During the early Quake 2 days, I must have visited that site 10 times a day

what a shame! I had an opportunity to talk to him over email a few times back in the day and he's really a class act and a funny guy. He's in a better place now, I'm sure.

Wow I was just over at Nvnews and read this. VE was really a great site back in the day. Man, he was only 33. I will definately say a prayer for his family. :(

sad to hear this. used to chat with him before ve3d fell apart. fell out of touch with him after that but dropped by gaminggroove every once in awhile to check up and see what he was up to. it's definately sad, and every gaming news site out there should be paying homage to someone who made gaming news sites popular and worth taking the time to read.

r.i.p. billy, see you on the flip side.

I saw this last night when I opened up IE (Homepage is VE3D), very very sad. While VE3d is still great site, it hasn't been the same since Billy left, and when they joined IGN. Never met the guy, but I loved reading his news. What a wonderful sense of humor. Such a shame he was so young.

Rest in peace Billy!

Sad news. He was the funniest game reporter ever. I will miss him "giving the reach around" to Tim Sweeney et al. R.I.P. Billy.

:Q

I also missed the Billy days of V.E. His falling out with the rest of the staff and his ugly departure from the site were unfortunate.

WTF?

That is messed up. I remember my brother in-law getting into often heated discussions with him about why 16MB of texture ram and >512x512 was necessary, etc. This was when Q3 test came out, April '99 I believe.

I used to frequent voodooextreme.com in the 90's as well. Lots of good content and plenty of news. In the day when it was unreachable, it was like AT forums not coming up. :)

RIP

Man, that was the gaming site in the late 90s. Billy and his fascination with McBlink, midgets, and hookers was untouchable by other sites.

Then Apache, and then IGN stepped in and fvcked the place over. It was never the same.

Wow, this is sad news. :(

I too made VE3D my home page for a long time. Played online against Wicked many many times in Unreal Tournament. He was very cool and very funny.

The only guy I knew who bought his vasoline by the six-pack.

RIP, Billy :beer::brokenheart:

I always wanted to buy his leaf blower with the "special" modification.

He always would say that he had a leaf blower with a special extension that would let him reverse the rotation of the motor and do quite the "suck job". It was one of his running jokes along with "reach arounds", midgets, and liberal use of lubricants.

Wow, I haven't thought of VE3d in a long time. Has anyone heard why he died?

RIP Wicked Wilson.

Ah yes...the spatula. Such a versatile utensile.
