Boston.com story

If anyone follows Mass politics, he just accepted close to 1mil severance package to step down. Not bad for doing nothing.

Only one guy had the balls to stand up and say it's way too much- everyone else is saying he's entitled to more than 2x as much, and how great he is.

They had a closed meeting yesterday. I'm not quite sure why he decided to go now, because the Gov has been trying to get rid of his position since Romney was put into office.

Probably has something to do with the talk over the past few months that he wouldn't give up his brother Whitey to the gov't. He said in his speech it was political pressure.

Why was he asked to step down?
Mob ties i believe
A lot of people felt he was less than forthcoming about the whereabouts of his brother (mobster Whitey Bulger) during a congressional hearing.
