Jesus Christ. Someone nominante this man for Philanthropist of the Millenium, stat. That's absolutely insane.

Or, can we please, PLEASE vote Warren Buffet as President? He would do such an amazing job it isn't even funny.

Cool!

Buffet and Gates are both for the death tax too!

Yep, Buffet is a huge proponent of unfair taxation.

Fixed.

Yep, because trustfund babies paying taxes on their inheritances that you and I pay on our incomes is so unfair.

technically, bill gates is not the richest man anymore. the richest man in the world, get ready for this, is the guy who founded IKEA. just make a furniture store like ikea and become filthy rich. they should rename it, as senseamp said, to the Bill & Melinda Gates & Warren Buffett Foundation.
i thought that was for like 10 days when the dollar was depreciating like mad. Anyways, Bill Gates has already given away 30+ billion or whatever. He doesn't need the title anymore than he needs another million bucks. He knows he'd be the richest if he wanted to be, that's enough as it is.

I recall hearing on NPR that a stipulation to the yearly donations, would be that the money would have to be spent within the same year.

I've always been a proponent in making sure your family is financially taken care of. Though not to the point of the money they receive clearing them off all social and economic responsibilities. Buffett is clearly showing this by putting his money where his mouth is, and I applaud such behavior.

Wouldn't it be funnier if he was a real bastard and used the money to develop/buy a rocket, then convert the rest of his fortune into gold and launched it into space/into the sun?

The money was already taxed.....far more heavily than you and I get taxed, so, yeah, somebody should be able to do whatever they want with it after that point including save it up for their kids and grandkids.

Gates foundation will be worth just under the UN. and I bet Gates does more good. now all he need is his private army running around in purple helmets and berrets, delivering food to poor nations.
