I actually hope Fox News goes in more of a Tucker Carlson direction. At least for the right wing his brand is somewhat tolerable.
That sounds like something a North Carolinian would say about the GOP and Pat McCrory before he became governor...
Tucker may have been somewhat tolerable next to Carville on CNN but ever he's turned into a toolbag for the ratings on Fox.

Good.

He's very similar to the other nut-bags that are on AM talk radio or whatever. They just fit that old stereotype of conservative retard that talks about things like religion in regards to politics - yet they proclaim to be limited government.

I honestly don't care one bit - but don't think for a minute you're "DESTROYING THE RIGHT WING MEDIA!!" like all your shared Facebook photos say.

Dershowitz had some interesting comments on this case. I'm not a big fan of the guy, but what he said sounded a lot like he had been briefed somehow or was an insider. He said
"there is a tape, and FOX has acquired it. o'reilly could not survive the release of this tape, so he has made a deal where he will not fight his firing or comment on it publicly... and the tape will not be released"

If this is true, and I don't know why a douche like Dershowitz would want to do fabricate this... then O'Reilly will live on. Since there will be no public beef with FOX, there will be no real dirt revealed and nobody will say anything bad about him (at fox). Huge win for Bill-O.

In all fairness people thought that about the pussy grabbing, 30 is checkout time for women, plus creeping on naked underage girls tapes, and that guy is the president now.

....which made me wonder, how do you get those that were advertising during his show for so long, to suddenly flee like this? Where those execs wives witholding favors until hubby withdraw those dollars? I dunno, but it had to be something serious to convince a number of those giant companies to suddenly care about something that they clearly didn't give a dick about for so long.

I like how you think. That is indeed the question(s) cause it sure as hell looks coordinated as hell. As always, if you want to know whats going on : follow the money.

Would you prefer Alex Jones? Or Rush?

Actually I think that what we are seeing is similar to the aftermath of Jon Stewart's Daily Show. The talking heads are interchangeable so long as they show some charisma and keep their noses clean. The writing and production teams can make *anyone* who meets basic competency thresholds into a leading personality.

But definitely OReilly and Ailes are akin to Jon Stewart in formatively shaping the institution with their sensibilities, and also leaving behind an institution which can run on autopilot.

Won't miss him. Never liked him. Not surprised at all that he turned out to be a harasser. Just seemed like the type to me. Doesn't matter if I agree with everything someone says, if they treat people like crap we will have a problem.

When I first heard of the allegations I did not have the details. I assumed they were outside "forces" to take down Republicans. The sort of thing you dismiss. Imagine my surprise when it turned out to be former coworkers, and not just any janitor or stage helper.. but important on air personalities. Completely credible accusations and mirroring what they previously said about Ailes. Seems that man fosterd a whole ecosystem of pinheads dedicated to the belittlement of women.

One wonders if all the hostile actors at that company have been routed, or if there is yet more disease for the owners to throw out. Removing O'Reilly this late into his career is not enough to set things right. There must be actions taken to ensure that sexual harassment does not continue.

I'm sure our sitting fingerbanger in chief will get right on that.

This may come as a surprise, but Trump is not the center of the universe. Nor is he part of Fox News.
What, you do not think it's for them to solve? Would you like to argue for a President's involvement?

Fox News and Donald Trump cater to the same ignorance, hate and people.

It's well-known that he spends the majority of his time watching TV (oh, or golfing), and TV seems to be the only source of his information. He frequently tweets about the goings-on at these organizations. Why should it surprise you that president tweet fingers will actually respond in some fashion?

advertising is the cash cow. That's what he draws. The only way to get asshats and shitty shows off of TV is to lose ad revenue. And it happens fast.

THis seemed kinda sudden to me and I expected it to draw out over some more weeks with O-Reilly offering some public concessions, because he pretty much is Fox. This really is nothing short of stunning, because it means that Fox was facing a significant, and certainly permanent loss in revenue were he to stay on.

Well, on Lawrence O'Donnell last night they had the lawyer who was representing these women. What they found out is that corporate 21 Century Fox, not the news department has a hotline with rules that allows reporting of these kinds of issues and there is no time limit. i.e. it does not matter what the statute of limitations are in the laws. They were getting complaints from all the other divisions also that if any of their people did anything close to what O'Reilly has pulled they would be fired pronto.

Society has certainly changed since the 17th century even though powerful men forcing sex on subservient women has not:

This night late coming in my coach, coming up Ludgate Hill, I saw two gallants and their footmen taking a pretty wench, which I have much eyed, lately set up shop upon the hill, a seller of riband and gloves. They seek to drag her by some force, but the wench went, and I believe had her turn served, but, God forgive me! what thoughts and wishes I had of being in their place.

That I might not be too fine for the business I intend this day, I did leave off my fine new cloth suit lined with plush and put on my poor black suit, and after office done (where much business, but little done), I to the ‘Change, and thence Bagwell’s wife with much ado followed me through Moorfields to a blind alehouse, and there I did caress her and eat and drink, and many hard looks and sooth the poor wretch did give me, and I think verily was troubled at what I did, but at last after many protestings by degrees I did arrive at what I would, with great pleasure,

Here's hoping that Hannity, Carlson and others also have shady histories waiting to be unearthed...

Totally agreed. I hope Hannity sexually harassed countless hundreds of women. Maybe he even raped a few; even better. His getting fired would make it all worth it.

No, while I'll hope he gets fired I'm hopping no one was raped.

So you only hope that Hannity sexually harassed and pressured hundreds of coworkers into sexual contact over a couple decades, but without physical force? That's quite moderate of you.
