And good riddance. I am so, so glad to finally see this asshole get what's coming to him. I hope he drinks himself to death somewhere, preferably attempting autoerotic asphyxiation or something equally embarrassing.

I'm surprised. Even with a lot of the advertisers bailing, the guy was probably still going to be a cash cow.

His time slot will probably go to someone even worse. Well, maybe not worse in terms of constantly committing sexual harassment.

Without advertisers there is no cash even if his audience remains.

His time slot is being filled by Carlson tucker.

Not entirely accurate. Remember, this is a cable network. More viewers = more leverage when negotiating fees with cable providers.

Besides, my guess is that a lot of the advertisers would have returned eventually. You think those scammers selling gold-plated coins and vegetable seeds for crisis gardens really care about their public image beyond Fox News viewers? Granted, the BMWs and McDonalds type of advertisers were probably gone for good (or maybe at least a year until everyone forgot about the controversy). Maybe I'm too cynical about that, though.

His time slot is being filled by Carlson tucker.

Ugh. Yeah, that's probably worse. Let's see how that dope does in the ratings without "Papa Bear" as a lead-in.

The $$ comparison isn't with nothing but rather anyone who can who keep more advertisers than just the bottom of the barrel.

It also bleeds through to the rest of the network, ie advertisers dropping fox news in general.

If you look at the past year, they've been putting in pro-drumpf shills in the opinion slots.

advertising is the cash cow. That's what he draws. The only way to get asshats and shitty shows off of TV is to lose ad revenue. And it happens fast.

THis seemed kinda sudden to me and I expected it to draw out over some more weeks with O-Reilly offering some public concessions, because he pretty much is Fox. This really is nothing short of stunning, because it means that Fox was facing a significant, and certainly permanent loss in revenue were he to stay on.

....which made me wonder, how do you get those that were advertising during his show for so long, to suddenly flee like this? Where those execs wives witholding favors until hubby withdraw those dollars? I dunno, but it had to be something serious to convince a number of those giant companies to suddenly care about something that they clearly didn't give a dick about for so long.

I guess the failing New York Times, which brought down this little bitch, isn't failing all that much.

I was just thinking about how hilarious this situation is. Nothing they reported on was some novel revelatory find, all the lawsuits are a matter of public record. The times merely timed their article with the Trump/misogyny backlash and let capitalism take its course.

Now contrast to what Trump's team has been able to accomplish with far more political power, eg a loyal plurality of followers, a conservative congress and everything.

There is a Vanity Fair article out there that says there is more of this stuff at Fox according to internal sources, seems a believable claim.

Don't think Hannity will go out. Oreilly always had this creepiness to him, same as Ailes. Hannity is more wholesome...Carlson probably will be fine too.

I actually hope Fox News goes in more of a Tucker Carlson direction. At least for the right wing his brand is somewhat tolerable.
