Bill Gates Gives NYC $51M for Schools

Eh, just another rich guy trying to make it seem as though they're better. We all know they should shoulder all of the tax burden, because they can afford it! It's not as if they'll actually spend their money wisely.

Why the hell is he donating $51.2 million? Why not make it an even $50 million?

That's probably what it costs to build the 67 planned schools. I don't think he just sat down and wrote a check for $50million and told the city of New York to find a place for it in the education sector. I bet he was very involved in every element of the proposal to the NYC public school system.

Better yet, lets turn on our sarcasm meter!

The lawyer that was against him in the Anti trust case is on the board of education for NYC. Wonder if that has something to do with it.

BTW $51m will barely build one or two schools. Heck, just a 3 story building on my campus was $37m. So the money is probably going into a trust. The irony.

he does have the gates fund which gives money domesitc and internationally.

and the school system here is pathetic, the 51mil is appreciated
