Biking shirts: What are those little pockets sewn on the backside for?

I guess a small bottle would work, would be a bit floppy for a big one. My bike has a holder for a bottle on the frame.

Some put their leg & arm warmers or light jacket in there. Pll that ride well don't move the upper body that much. We are talking road bikes not mountain bikes.:sun:

Pretty much whatever. I keep keys, food, my mp3 player, maps, etc in there depending on what I'm doing and how far I'm going. Heavy stuff like tools, spare tubes and CO2 inflater thingys go in my under-seat pack.
