Biking ....how can I have a total worout?

It seems to me that biking does not offer a full-body workout...what can I do to off set this?

I will be doing 20miles a day.....do I need anything else to get fit? ie pushups or something?

I don't know if I can thrust and pedal at the same time...

Three words technical mountain biking. Doing techincal trails works my upper body more then road cycling ever did.

If you want to stick to the road then you'll have to get into the gym to work that upper body.

Swimming is a really great full body workout. Modify your bike so that it can be used in a pool... and so it uses your arms and back too. 😀

What are you looking to accomplish?

You can do swimming on your off days from biking. That is good work out.
Swimming uses the muscles in a different fashion than biking.
All that will do for you is cause leg cramps.
Either swim or bike enough to go aerobic.

Step 1. Bike to gym
Step 2. Do full body workout
Step 3. Bike home

yeah, biking doesn't do anything for the upper body 😛

swimming is really different workout for me... after just a little, i'm out of breath. yet i can bike 60 miles w/o too much of a problem.

I'm thinking about biking to the gym...very good idea...it is 20 miles away though.. a little too much work

EDIT: WHat if during most of the bike ride I am not sitting down, as in standing up? What does that work?
