Personally, I only hate the ones who attempt to showboat on the highway. Wheelies, 120 mph passes, stuff like that. Oh, I also hate the ones who slash 2,000 tires.

I could be wrong, but I had the impression this was a BICYCLIST.

Fausto is next. You Atlantans better take notice and give him space.

To me, a more sensible penalty would be to reduce the jailtime to 6-8 months and levy a fine. I don't see that he had to pay a fine, which is quite odd in this cicrumstance.

The victims have to pay insurance deductables to get new tires, thus this guy should definitely be responsible for compensation to the victims.

No, there are plenty of considerate ones who know what to do when there's a stop sign (i.e. stop). I just get pissed because it seems as though the majority of cyclists just plain openly flaunt traffic laws. I know that's likely just selective memory and I only remember the idiot cyclists, but it's not as though everyone on a cycle is this wonderfully considerate person.

And just to point out, I have no problem with cyclists doing things like walking their bike across a cross-walk (I know that if they're walking the bike, they're a pedestrian) I just wish that they wouldn't do things that seem actively designed to make life hard on other drivers. To all you good cyclists out there (and I know that there are many on this board), I'm sorry that you guys have to deal with the ill-will generated by the few idiots who get remembered.

yeah i know... :)

i try not to be a little prick when im riding around... but i know what you're talking about... even worse when they do it in front of me... and all the cars get pissed off... too bad im right behind so they vent their frustrations at me instead... :disgust:

I'll grant that cyclists can get problems from people driving cars, but I've seen cyclists do some really stupid and inconsiderate things too. I can't count the number of cyclists I've seen who run stop signs (they don't even slow down). I've seen cyclists go straight from the right-hand side of a right-turn-only lane (if that's not an invitation to have a car run you over, I don't know what is), I've seen them make left turns from the right lane (see my previous parenthetical comment), they generally just disregard all lane regulations and traffic signals. I have no problem treating bicycles as vehicles and giving them all the room of a car, but I really wish they would obey the traffic laws.

I cannot agree with you more!!! Im sick of idiot students on bikes riding on sidewalks and expecting me to treat them as a ped...

It's not just driving around inconsiderate bicyclists that gets me, it's walking around them as well. When I used to work in downtown Seattle, bike couriers would ride on the sidewalks instead of the streets (which would be, y'know, legal) and come flying down steep hills and blindly turn corners.

The thing is, I think that failing to enforce bicycle laws is every city's dirty little secret. or actually, clean little secret. In my opinion, they want to encourage people to take bikes to reduce traffic, pollution, etc. Having a 'crackdown' on bicycle abuse would just be a losing situation politically and possibly even rationally. If you were on a bike and had to stop at every light and stop sign and obey all traffic laws, it would take probably 3-4x as long to go home.

Is that Aimster? Didn't get tipped for delivering a stone cold pizza and decided to go on a slashing rage. On seeing his tires slashed, NightRaven threw a brick at Aimster but missed and instead hit WHLSLacrosskid who promptly sues Goodyear for copying the idea of tyres from "Finding Nemo".

It was probably the spark to the powder keg. I'd be on the edge, too, if my name was Ashley.

Bad, but it could have been worse. At least he didn't resort to physical violence upon another person.
