Bike question

My inner tube in the bike went bad or got a hole w/e any ways I want to change it. I wanted to know what are the best inner tubes and how do I measure my tire b/c all the boxes I see say they come in a certain sizes. Do I measure from the end of the tire to the other end or the metal rim which I think but not sure?

You can try asking at the bike shop where you buy the new tube. Usually those guys know more about bikes than you could ever dream.

Is it a MTB or a ROAD bike?

If it's a MTB they will be 26 inch tires (99% of the time) and a 1.95 or 2.0 X 26 should be about right. If it's a road bike and newer they should be 700c tires and could be anywhere from a 19c to a 28 c (Most common) if it's a hybrid, they could go up to a 38 or 40c. If it's a OLD road bike they are probably 27x 1 1/8 or 1 1/4.

edit: and the SIZE should be marked on the side of the tire somewhere!

Look at the number on the side of the tire that says how big it is. Look at the boxes of tubes at the store, and buy the one that matches your tire.
Also, when you're filling up the tire, find the number on the side of the tire that's followed by "PSI", and then pump until the number on the pump matches that number.

I don't mean to be a jackass, but this is hardly rocket science, all you have to do is read the side of the tire.

the side of the tire says 45-65PSI I had it at 55PSI and now the tube broke a hole in it or the valve broke. Ill leave it on my 38PSI like i had before. or w/e this tube that i am getting says I should put it at.

The tube didn't get a hole in it because you filled it up with air, it got a hole in it because you ran over something pointy. And the tube won't say how much pressure you're supposed to put in it, because that depends on the tire you're putting the tube inside. The tire's what has to hold the pressure, all the tube does is keep that pressure from leaking out.

I'm really trying to contain myself here...

Must be good, MUST HOLD IT IN...

Anyway. as a rule you are much LESS likely to get flats from pointy things if you keep the tires inflated to the MAX pressure.

Typically that will be 65 PSI.

Trust us on this one. The leak you have was NOT from over inflating the tire. When you DO get a flat from over inflating a tire you will HEAR IT, quite LOUDLY!

don't buy the tubes at wal-mart, they are super weak IMO (bell, etc)

get them at a bike shop, better quality and often times cheaper
