Looking for a bike lock and I think I've narrowed it down to the Kryptonite mini evolution 7 with 4 foot flex cable. Only plan to use it to attach to actual bike racks when running into the store or getting a bite to eat. I know nothing is going to stop a determined thief, but I want something to stop opportunistic thieves and those with a small pair of bolt cutters.

I have a couple kryptonites and a newer Abus. One Kryptonite is quite big and I used to use it for two bikes. Now that I am riding solo I went with an Abus mini because the shackles are thicker than the Krypto Evo and it's also double shackled vs the Krypto's one, so the thieves would have to cut twice to get it off vs once for the Krypto Evo.

I use Pitlock locking skewers for my wheels and seat so no need for a weak cable for the wheels. I have had them for 7 years so I feel I have gotten my money's worth. Pitlocks are the best of all the locking skewers, but you do pay the premium.

Having fond memories of college when campus security was filing a report for an Asian teen (freshman?) who locked the front wheel up and nothing else. The quick release mechanisms on the wheel served to make for an efficient theft.

In Manhattan today riding. This is what my bike looks like locked up in the city. Just one small but thick double shackled Abus ulock you can get for $45 and fits in your back pocket, the locking skewers keep the wheels, seatpost and headset secure.

This is in the highest bike theft city in the country. That being said I wouldn't lock my bike out overnight here, even with a better lock.

I just ran a long cable between both tires, the seat and the bike with a lock you can't bolt cut. Looks like this:

You would have to use a cable cutter. But I think pairing my solution to Pixel's solution would be pretty good. You want to secure your tires and seat as well.
