Bigotry at its finest.

"Here, everyone's gay," Liu said. "They don't have a discriminatory mindset."

What an idiot. The article just told the story of discrimination against straight people, the use of name publishing as a means of intimidation, and derogatory slurs from the gay community towards straights. Nice try by the media to polish out obvious bigotry by the gay community there.

This is Politics or News? Sounds like anti-gay trolling.

So they are mad because they cannot be closet homophobes/bigots now?

Dahl said he is offended that some proponents of same-sex marriage have equated the opposing view with bigotry. "I'll take ownership of being a Catholic and being a signer of the petition, but I won't take ownership of being a bigot," he said.

Why do you expect a right to privacy with regards to signing a PUBLIC petition?

It's news based. I just find it interesting that a group which claims to advocate tolerance has no tolerance of their own.

I also decided it was important to show what bigotry really was...

The article itself mas multiple viewpoints in it.

The reporter grabbed the most inflamitory and supressed the rest

No, the reporter grabbed the most important part of the story. If there were a bunch of church leaders running around berating gays in the same way that the gays are berating straights, then you would expect that they would report on that. That's all that's happening here.

Try reading the article again...just what is more important that has been suppressed?

Thanks for the reply Falwell. The story was poorly written and very uninformative. Friction between gays and people pushing agenda to discriminate against gays? Wow, that's news!

This just in, a petition to ban blacks from voting incited some angry remarks from citizens in Compton...

something like bigotry is easily reciprocated.

I am not surprised.

IF you tell me you hate me, I hate you right back...etc etc.

I think you'll find that tolerance is an illusion. There is not one group, hell one person, who is truly tolerant.

People are people/so why should it be/....

Sorry 80's flashback moment.

Hate is everywhere. Hate is the new black it seems. (I mean that in fashionable terms, not racist ones.)

Disagree with someone? Hate them.

Don't like someone's political view? Hate them.

The reality is, regardless of your race/creed/color/sexual orientation there is never a reason for hate based on one of the afforementioned.

Honestly the people in that article seem a little over-sensitive. If was called a "breeder" I would laugh and tell the guy "thanks for noticing!". Dog crap next to my car? Wow. Get over it.

I am just tired of all the hate. It's old, I mean can't we make love the new black? Ok, now I sound like a hippie.

It is really amazing though, how many people think they are "tollerant" and yet can hate at the drop of a hat.

For instance I can say "I think George W. Bush was right to invade Iraq" (I do.) and a number of you would hate me for that.

Or I could say "I accept Jesus Christ as my lord and savior." (I do not.) and a number of other people will hate me.

And really, those are just different views and opinions from what you may hold. My opinions and feelings cause no one any harm, but they can encite scorn and hysteria amongst many.

It's a shame.

They. Us.

Meh.

When you are called something it is what you take it as that matters. My children are a blessing and wonder to me, so calling me a "Breeder" is a compliment in my eyes. The person saying it seeing it as an insult only means they are one of the many humans out there that need to feel superior by what they percieve as degrading others. Not the type of person who I value the opinion of.

Get off your high horse Bubba, it's meant as an insult. I'm not saying all gays are bigoted just that they are no different than any other segment of society, there are those who are bigoted and there are those who aren't.

What I am saying is why would anyone care if it is meant as an insult? "BREEDER! *snicker* You are different then us!" That is playground garbage, do people honestly take offense to this?

And I actually agree with you that any segment of society will have it's share of hate for those that are not like them. So I'm not really sure why you were attempting to insult me? I like horses (but have never rode one), and alas I am not from the south.

My my, how excited the bigots get when they see bigotry in those whom they are bigoted toward. "WEEEEEEEEE! I'm not the only person on earth who is a bigot. Now I can justify my own hate because the people I hate hate too. What a relief to be an equal among scum."

So.... whats your point? There were plenty of bigoted blacks back when our country was segregated. Does that all of the sudden mean whites were justified in discriminating against them? No.

from reading the article, it doesn't seem like they were being targetted because they were straight, but rather, because they signed a petition to ban gay marriage.

how'd they expect gay people to react? I don't think I've ever heard a solid argument against gay marriage that *doesn't* have its root in bigotry against a lifestyle that they disagree with on a moral level.

"anyone" and "people" is not you. I did not think that you were offended by it not sure how you got that from my post. I was asking "do people honestly take offense to this? You strike me as quite an excitable person, and I'm not quite sure what part of "I agree with you" you missed.

Anyway...

There are also homosexuals with children, from when they were formerly hetrosexual. I wonder if there will someday be divides withing the homosexual community. Homosexuals that were that way all there life disliking people that were formerly hetrosexual, or bi-sexuals disliking transvestites. Sounds like a Jerry Springer show I know.
