BIGGG Problem, could do with some input

my monitor has just done something strange, there i was happily playing a spot of Unreal Tournament a 1280x1024 resolution and i was recording a demo so i could upload it to unrealtournament.com and show them how skillful i really am.

i decided to see how hot my CPU was whilst running the game so i pressed that little window thing on the desktop screen in UT, the top right button that brings you back to windows and changes UT into a 640x480 window.

when i pressed it, it went back to my desktop which i run at 1024x768 but this time it changed my desktop res to 1280x952 or something and changed the pincushion thing to max, or minimum, it made it really round looking.
so i went back into UT and it stayed at this crappy res and made it all round looking, when i exited UT completly it changed the pincusion the other way round and changed my desktop res back to 1024x768 but changed the pincushion the other way round making the middle of the screen being pulled, you know what i'm on about right?

it also maximized the horizontal size so i can't see the full width of my desktop screen.

naturally through the OSD of the monitor i tried to change it, but when i change either the horizontal size, pin cushion or trapezoid it doesn't actualy do anything, all the other options in the OSD work fine but these do not and i'm stuck with a dodgy looking screen.

can anyone shed some light as to what may have happened?

i can send you a picture of what it looks like now if you wish

sounds like it simply changed your monitor refresh rate. Go to the advanced tab of the display properties and change your refresh rate back to what it was(probably optimal or 85+)

no, i already tried that, it didn't change from optimal.

besides how come i can't alter the horizontal size and pincushion etc and i can change the other settings?

don't know, I was hoping it would be an easy fix.

i've tried everything i can think of, turning the monitor off then back on, still doesn't go back normal, it's not my vid card either cause even when i don't have the pc on it's like that, the no connection message look stretched and mis-shaped

i have tried installing the correct drivers for the monitor (belinia 10-30-20) still nothing

i thought it might be some kind of interference but i didn't have anything else on at the time, i was just running UT and when i switched back to desktop it looked like this and the OSD wouldn't respond to some things

it wouldn't be anything to do with the modem would it? we've just had a lot of downfall lately and i'm thinking a surge or something may have come down the phone line and into the monitor? but wouldn't that have killed my motherboard or CPU instead?

Go into your UT config file:

C:\Unreal Tournament\System\UnrealTournament.ini

Look for this:

[WinDrv.WindowsClient]
WindowedViewportX=640
WindowedViewportY=480
WindowedColorBits=16
FullscreenViewportX=1024
FullscreenViewportY=768
FullscreenColorBits=16

Check your screen settings and change them back to where they were. The desktop can be set back to your preferred resolution by going into your Display Settings.
