Yeah, unfortunately soba, somen, and udon still go for a premium here.
Funny, I was just thinking about making a thread like this. I do like fettuccine and other Italian noodles, but I like Japanese noodles for smaller meals, and unfortunately it's more like $1 for about 7 ounces of soba, which is about twice the price of cheaper pasta.
