If it dont lock up it just resets program blah blah, I was happy to get rid of my ATI and looking forward to This card, now I must say this is the most disappointed I have EVER been witha product, maybe someone can help, here are my system specs. 1800+, 512 MB pc2700,ASUS A7v8x, 80 gig hard drive 7200 rpm, any help would help..

Try setting AGP8X and Fast Writes to disabled in your BIOS. I had a 128MB Ti 4200 and I loved it. I never had a problem with it. Ever. Just work out whatver is wrong and you should be more than pleased with the results.

Did you completely remove the ATI drivers before installing the Ti4200? Also, have you installed chipset drivers (minus the SW IDE drivers) from nVidia?

I don't think he wants to do that as he has a Via KT400 motherboard over there.

A7V8X is KT400
A7N8X is nForce2

There is nothing wrong with the 4200.. I had one and it was cheap, relatively fast and very stable.. the problem is probably your crappy KT400 based motherboard. :)

Actually, I have the same board and I get through all the benchies I run just fine, and that's in Windows 98SE. It's a very stable board IMO.

IMO the 4200 is one of the best vid cards to reach production. kind like the situation which the 9500Pro is in now, in its time it was cheap, fast and with good features, thus a success.
its still a good card.

Ah, ok. Subtle difference there. Thanks for pointing that out. VIA drivers.

so AMD2003, are you saying that if you underclock it you can make it through 3dmark, or just that something is wrong to were you cannnot make it though 3dmark? if the latter is the case i recomend doing what the people above suggested.

My geforce4 would randomly pass tests or not, but not usually if they lasted long. When I took the card out and a tiny transistor or something fell off, I RMA'd it ( I think that it would only pass tests when it was pressed down to touch the two points on the card). Now it runs 325/725 on stock cooling no problem. All I can say is to RMA it.

that's cool.
I was just poking fun at the KT400 as it is nothing special.. most benches lead towards NForce2.. thas all. heh..
