bigger problem

hey guys,

I have an i7-920 on a Intel DX58SO mobo with a XFX 4890 and a 700W OCZ ModXStream power supply. I was playing Mirror's Edge when suddenly I got purple and blue vertical bars, the computer shut down, turned itself back on, and 3 of the warning lights on the 4890 lit up while the fan for the PSU was going crazy. Turned power off, back on, same thing. Tried it several times. Put in my back-up EVGA 9800GTX+, and everything works fine.

So ok I thought, it's the 4890. Then I turn it off and back on, well, same problem. What gives? Is it the power supply? (I already ordered a beefier one to replace this one with, bought the system used and it was already in there). Can it be something else?

EDIT: Now the computer turns on, but isn't POSTing.

EDIT: Now the computer sometimes turns on with the 4890 in it, without warning lights, but all I get is that black screen with the blinking white line in the top left corner.

Thanks!

Since it works wiht your older card but not the 4890 then i would say that something happened to the video card. Though it is possible that the PSU is unable to support the system with the 4890 in it.

Do you have another computer/know anybody that has another computer you can plug your 4890 into? 700W should be sufficient for a 4890 but there's only one way to tell.
