Big upgrading decision help needed: Mobo/CPU

So the choices for me are the DFI NF3 + 64 3000+ ($293) or Epox 9NDA3+ + 64 3400+ ($417) . Both are NF3 but the Epox is socket 939 opposed to a 754.

The things that concern me.
I'll probably be upgrading the CPU again in ~1.5 years. So the 939 socket would allow me to upgrade the CPU w/o getting a new motherboard.

On the otherhand, by then PCI-E might be what I'd need to upgrade to as well if the mid-line vid-cards at that point aren't available in AGP. There may be other things out that would merit a new motherboard anyway. Therefore when taking these two factors in account I may as well save the $124 and get the marginally slower board/cpu.

I also don't believe that the performance advantage of the 3400+ (and the dif mobo architecture) justifies another $124. I am all about price/performance but do take into account the longevity of the system.

Number one priority for me is game performance. I don't get top of the line vid-cards so the CPU tends to be a larger factor for me. I plan on getting an x700 when it's out (also still considering a 6600 gt... will see once they are both available). I also do map design and video encoding so the CPU is the #1 factor there.

Overclockability: It's a factor. I have been OC'ing since I got a Slot-a 800mhz Thunderbird. The DFI would rock for that but the Epox would serve my purposes as well (I don't know much about OC stats for the 939 though).

Thanks for any advice info that would help me decide. I've been out of the scene for a while because I went abroad, so I'm still trying to catch up here so I don't make a stupid choice 🙂

Lol Blain, thanks. Was my question(s) too difficult to answer with words? I might be able to clear it up if you don't understand my issue.

I didnt think the 3400+ was on socket 939.......

EDIT: nevermind I guess i am not up to date.
