Big Typhoon Vibrates sometimes

I just put together my new conroe system and the Big Typhoon cpu hsf vibrates sometimes. Last night, it did at the start and then it stopped after a few minutes. Today it's vibrating again. It usually stops if I take the side panel off and touch the fan with my finger. Then I have to gently put the side panel back on or it'll start vibrating again if I jerk it the case too much. Did I not tighten the screws enough? Is that the problem here? Cuz I've never installed anything like this before. Zalman was much easier. Instructions don't really say how far down the screws need to go. Cpu idles at 41 degrees which doesn't seem too high considering what most people are saying.

I just read how to install this thing on cdrinfo's site cuz they have a review on there. they didn't even bother using a tool. they just tightened the screws with their hands. screws looked about as far down as mine. i might just take off the grille and see if that helps with the noise.

You got a loose screw in the mounting bracket. Here's a tip, read the manual that comes w/ the HSF.

Yep! I concur with the majority!

Classic symptom of a bad fan bearing -- heat and dust usually kill them, not old age. In your case, however, it's probably defective. 😉

Then, again...

Ppl are inept, so it doesn't hurt to rule out the obvious!

LoL! Did I successfully cover all the bases? 🙂
